We are holding many sessions hoping to enlist YOUR HELP in turning out comments to the NRC rulemaking docket. They are going to irradiate all of us more, for no good reason. We may not impact the new rule, however the Docket on the rule may be an asset for follow-on efforts (legal, congressional, local). HELP fill the docket with unique comments—don’t need to be long. HERE ARE SOME BACKGROUND INFO:
Forty-one groups signed a letter to NRC in December, opposing Executive Order 14300 directives and calling for better radiation protection for all.
See letter.
We compiled PRIMARY DOCUMENTS (White House, US Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Department of Energy to date. Links here.
The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists has published articles from friends on this topic:

Gender and Ionizing Radiation: Towards a New Research Agenda Addressing Disproportionate Harm

Mary Olson contributed a chapter: Biological Factors and Gender Impacts Affecting Outcomes from Exposure to Ionizing Radiation to the new (January 2026) report published by Norwegian People’s Aid.
Resources from Allied Organizations
Beyond Nuclear has compiled these resources:
In May 2025, Ed Lyman lays out the issue in the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists.
In June 2025, Linda Pentz Gunter writes that the whole suite of “reckless and accelerated Executive Nuclear Orders released by the White House would destroy safety oversight and endanger the public.
In August 2025, Cindy Folkers discusses the history of NRC and DOE and the horrible implications of EO 14300.
In October 2025, Daniel Hirsch (Posthumously) and coauthors, review history and implications of the Order.
In November 2025, Blume and Schrager spell out, interviewing several experts, how more radiation exposure from this order could be catastrophic for women and girls.
In December 2025, Cindy Folkers writes that abandoning radiation protection will further endanger vulnerable populations.
We will continue to update this page as more resources become available.
Info / Organizing (online) sessions—Register here
These informal sessions will give a nutshell of information, and then put on our organizer hats to extend this information widely. Please check out this resource page to learn more.
The events will overlap in content–so, please pick ONE to attend, you are welcome to come back—but sessions will assume all are newcomers. We are not recording these sessions—that is why we are offering many. If you would like to watch a recording, Nuclear Energy Information Service hosted Mary Olson and Diane D’Arrigo on December 15. That recording is here:

Please promote these sessions to any and all who would help get many comments in to NRC. Share this link:

2025 April 16: REPORT BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
March 5, 2025–GRIP Founder, Mary Olson spoke at the 2025 Treaty on The Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons Meetings at UN Headquarters in NYC and was joined by Dr Amanda Nichols (UCSB), co-author of the new report on Gender and Radiation. The UN Institute on Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) held a side session adding to the fabric of the third Meeting of States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) . The event was well attended with standing room only. We posted a “scrapbook” on our BLOG — please visit that link for more info.
There was no filming of the March 5 session at MSP3, so co-presenters Mary Olson and Amanda Nichols made a subsequent recording of their slides. You can watch that presentation on YouTube HERE.
Interested in hearing more? We are doing an informal online “report back” to the community on April 16th.

2023: SECOND MEETING OF STATES PARTIES TO THE TREATY ON THE PROHIBITION OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS AT THE UN.
INTRODUCTION TO HUMANITARIAN IMPACTS OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS + SIGNS OF HOPE FOR A NUCLEAR WEAPONS-FREE WORLD
Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 1 pm (ET).
In-person attendance is now closed. Attending by Zoom is still open at Baha’i International Center UN PLAZA / Hybrid
Signs of hope are found in 93 nations that have signed the new Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). This trajectory resulted from a commitment made at the UN in 2010 to consider the impact of production, testing and use of nuclear weapons from the perspective of emergency responders, public health and sustainable development. The Humanitarian initiative is rooted in the hearts and minds of so many seeking a nuclear-weapons-free world dating back to 1945, in New Mexico, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki and so many other places.
