How can you become a guardian of future generations?

Through the Generational Radiation Impact Project, we have the chance to put our resources into a project whose goal is to keep our grandchildren safe…from knowing the harm of radiation.

We support…

  • An overall reduction in radiation exposure for all, particularly women and young girls.

  • Disclosure and informed consent prior to receiving any androgenic radiation exposure.

  • A phase-out of nuclear industrial operations in favor of non-nuclear alternatives.

  • Radiation monitoring of food and water results routinely being made public.

  • Employment policies for licensed radioactive workplaces–including medical–that include a daily disclosure of cumulative exposure to date and next anticipated doses.

  • A Surgeon General's warning on all institutionalized exposures including radioactive jobs, medical practices, contaminated sites, emissions and contaminated water.

In 2011, Mary Olson of Nuclear Information and Resource Service published an independent analysis of a National Academy of Sciences report which found that  women suffer greater harm from radiation exposure than men.

The same year, the World Health Organization published a major report on the impact of the nuclear disaster at Fukushima, Japan, which also found that girls will be disproportionately harmed by radiation.

These critical yet under-reported findings led to the creation of the Gender and Radiation Impact Project, a 501(c)3 educational and funding nonprofit that works at the intersection of public health, medicine, and public policy. We bring together top thinkers to understand the role biological sex plays in harm from radiation.

GRIP is a start-up and must, for its tax-exempt status, show interest from the public in its mission. Smaller gifts from many new supporters are VERY HELPFUL at this stage.  Your networking is also very much appreciated. And, MAJOR support is always welcome too!

Our Newsletter, Get-A-GRIP, is another way to show your interest. Free subscription gives you 4 editions a year (via email) along with news items and three fundraising requests, or about one email a month.

Together, we’ll search for answers and protect our grandchildren in the meantime.

Mary Olson explains the importance of the Reference Girl project and why continuing this work is crucial to the future safety of our children.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.
